Join us for a conversation on April 25, 2023, 3pm ET with Dr. Katharine Hayhoe to hear how our congregation can receive good financial returns on our investments while making a difference in the world. Dr. Hayhoe is a leading climate scientist and a voice for why climate change matters to us as individuals and to society collectively.
She is the author of Saving US: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World and discusses how to build support for addressing climate transition. In this seminal work, Katharine discusses how, by engaging people on how climate impacts the things that we love and care about, we can move our congregations and leaders to action.
Dr. Hayhoe is the Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy and a Horn Distinguished Professor and Endowed Professor of Public Policy and Public Law in the Dept. of Political Science at Texas Tech University. Katharine has been named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People, the United Nations Champion of the Environment, and the World Evangelical Alliance’s Climate Ambassador.
This discussion will be moderated by Susie Faria of the Office of Government Relations for the Episcopal Church and JoAnn Hanson, President of the Church Investment Group and sponsored by Episcopal Parish Network.
This conversation aligns well with our diocese's resolution 2022-08 that passed this past convention that encouraged environmentally-responsible investing in parishes across the diocese. For those with questions as to how we can be both financially- and environmentally-responsible in how we steward the funds entrusted to us, this webinar will educate and inform.
