The first step is finding out how your current investments stack up. Thankfully, there’s a handy online tool called Fossil Free Funds that gives funds a “fossil fuel grade” of A through F.
“There’s 100 million people in the United States with $10 trillion in assets that have no idea that they’re investing in their own destruction,” Andrew Behar, chief executive officer of As You Sow, the group that created this tool, told Bloomberg Green. “It’s been completely hidden.” The site also has a list of the funds that receive the highest grade, Grade A.
Once you have an idea of what grade your portfolio gets, you can take action. Invest Your Values has put together a handy guide as to what form that action can take, depending on who is in control of how your retirement portfolio is invested. (From Dr. Katharine Hayhoe's weekly newsletter).
