2023 Green Cincinnati Plan Released!

On April 3, 2023, the City of Cincinnati released their new "Green Cincinnati Plan". This plan sets ambitious targets to decrease emissions by 50% by 2030 and be 100% carbon neutral by 2050. This is an increase from the 80% by 2050 goal set in 2018. City leaders say this aggressive action is needed in light of the dire projections.

"This is our chance to reinvent the future and save our home. There is a place for you in the action. We hope you will join us. Cincinnati faces rising temperatures and more frequent and severe storms that will only intensify in the coming decades. The local impacts of climate change will have far-reaching health and safety consequences for residents. Reducing carbon emissions is our best defense against climate change. In alignment with the latest science, Cincinnati is strengthening its climate targets. With the adoption of this plan, Cincinnati commits to a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, and 100% carbon neutrality by 2050."

The Christ Church Cathedral's Creation Care and Environmental Justice Ministry now begins our work of developing a plan that supports and aligns with this Green Cincinnati Plan. If you are interested in joining us in this project, please email Kyle.
